This is a corrugated mailer with a tucked closure instead of a locked one. Structurally it is the same one-piece body that folds flat and pops open; the difference is entirely in how the front edge secures.

Tuck versus tab, and when each wins

A tab lock pushes a die-cut tab into a matching slot. It holds firmly, resists being shaken open, and shows if it has been opened — but it takes a little force, and repeated opening eventually tires the slot.

A tuck flap simply slides under the front wall. It is gentler to open, closes again cleanly, and survives being opened and shut several times. It is also, honestly, easier to pull open by accident, which is why it is not the choice for high-value contents.

Where the reusable closure earns its place

Two situations make a tuck closure clearly the better call. The first is returns — if a customer may send the item back, they need to reclose the box, and a torn tab means finding new packaging. The second is subscription, where the box is part of a monthly ritual and a closure that opens smoothly is part of the experience.

For those, this construction is a better fit than a locking tab even though it holds slightly less firmly. Boxes for that use often sit in our subscription and PR range.

    Frequently asked questions

    Will it open in transit?

Correctly sized, no. Oversized boxes are what come open — the contents shift, the walls flex, and the flap works free. Sizing to the product matters more here than closure type.

Can I add a tear strip?

Yes, though it is somewhat at odds with a reusable closure. If the box needs tamper evidence, a tab lock is the more natural choice.

    Does it print differently?

No. The closure does not change the printable area or the finishing options.

Not sure which closure you need?

Tell us whether the box gets opened once or several times, and we will recommend accordingly.

    Key features

How we build tuck top mailer boxes.

    Measured from the product

We size the box around what goes inside and add the clearance it needs. That removes void fill you would otherwise buy and dimensional weight you would otherwise pay on every order.

    Colour that behaves

Process CMYK or a Pantone spot match, outside and in. We tell you how a colour will sit on kraft before the run, not after it.

    Board matched to the load

E-flute, B-flute or double wall depending on weight and fragility. We will talk you down a grade as readily as up one.

    Assembles in one motion

One-piece construction with a front-tab lock. No tape, no gun, and seconds rather than minutes at the packing bench.

    Recyclable as standard

Kraft and corrugated go in the curbside bin with water- and soy-based inks. Plastic lamination changes that, and we say so when you ask for it.

    Fifty is a real run

Enough to prove a design before committing to thousands. Pricing steps down at 250, 500 and 1,000 as setup cost spreads.

    Make it yours

    Customization options

Board, print method and finish are three separate decisions, and each one moves the price. We will tell you which are worth paying for on your product and which are not.

    FAQ

    Before you order

Measure the product at its widest point in each direction, not a box you already use. We add the clearance and the board thickness ourselves, so sending an existing box means inheriting whoever sized it last.
Yes. Every quote includes a print-ready dieline and a 3D render at no charge, and you can request a physical sample before production. On a first order we recommend taking the sample — a screen cannot tell you whether a box fits.
Quantity, then print coverage. Setup cost is fixed, so the per-unit figure drops sharply across the first few quantity steps. After that, the number of ink colours moves the price more than the board does.
On white-top board, closely — specify a Pantone reference and we match to it. On kraft the ink sits over brown and shifts warmer, so we tell you how a colour will actually behave before the run rather than after it.
Send photographs within seven days of delivery and we reprint or refund the affected quantity. Custom production is not returnable for change of mind, which is exactly why we insist on proof approval first.
